This February the Honors College vacated our original home in the lower level of the Forsyth Library. It's a bittersweet parting. We had almost 10 years of Honorables in our tornado-proof home, which we shared with our Makerspace neighbors and many more over the years. We made it our own and rarely had to worry about the Kansas weather. We thought surely it's the safest spot on campus.
The time has come for good old Forsyth to get an update, which you can read more about here on the renovation blog, so all of us library dwellers have scattered to our various new nests around campus while she gets a glow up. We're gladly still hallway neighbors with Makerspace, but we're also making new friends in Picken Hall!
It's convenient to be nearby our Admissions counselors since we meet SO many prospective Tigers and their families. Also, this is an insider secret, we can get pretty chatty. 😲 Sometimes our visitors are quite late to their next appointment. This is a little easier to manage now that they often only need to pop upstairs. Time management is hard when you're having a good time.
It's been a bit of an adjustment to not share our spaces in the same way we did in the library and to get ourselves organized but we're very excited about some of the little things: there's a real water fountain nearby, the bathrooms are HUGE, we learned about what FHSU Testing Services does, we're more convenient for some students (though less convenient for others), and most importantly...windows. Cue a chorus of "Let The Sunshine In"!
Come visit us in Picken Hall 123!
